This is one of the most delicious apple pies I’ve ever tried. It is very popular in the Eastern Europe, and of course in Ukraine.
Actually, I love all the varieties and types of apple pies, whether it is strudel, yeast pie, Dutch, French, all of them. Apple pies in its turn love cinnamon; however, it is an optional ingredient, you can give it if you like it.
This apple pie recipe contains sour cream; the creamy filling makes the bakery special and tender. I’ve noticed that the more different tastes are in a dish, the more interesting is the taste. For sure, harmony is also very important in combinations of different tastes. So, let’s try and combine some ingredients and get something delicious.
Ingredients
Dough
150 g melted butter or margarine
0.5 cup sour cream
1.5 cup flour (250 g)
1-1.5 tsp baking powder
Sour cream filling
1 cup sour cream
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla sugar
3 tbsp flour
Stuffing
500-600 g apples
Preparation
Combine all dough ingredients in a bowl and knead soft dough. The quantity of baking powder you add depends on the very baking powder needed for 250 g of flour. Put the dough in polyethylene to a fridge while you make stuffing.
Mix sour cream, egg, sugar, and flour until smooth. Cut apples into thin slices or shred them.
Put the dough into a 10 in (26 cm) form on baking paper and straighten it with hands making boards. This is our base. Place over apples. Here you may scatter apples with cinnamon, if you wish.
Pour apples with the sour cream filling. Put the pie into preheated to 180°C (356°F) oven. Bake about 50 minutes (up to an hour).
It is tasty both hot and after storing in a fridge. Bon appetit!
